While it’s not as unique as the others on this list, considering it’s well, Applebee’s, it’s definitely worth it to enjoy a few half priced appetizers here between 3pm-6pm or after 9pm. The Wonton Chicken Tacos are a favorite of many.
Applebee’s is open every day.

If you’re looking for a classic American meal, you’re in luck because Fat Daddy’s has a nice selection of burgers, sandwiches, and comfort foods. Try the Sriracha Burger, or the Chicken Fried Steak. If you’re more serious about counting calories, the Crispy Chicken Salad is also pretty good. Hearty steaks are available with homemade au jus, but only on Friday and Saturday nights. You also have to try their delicious and crisp Chicken Fried Bacon at least once in your life. Ask for their 10% military discount, if applicable.
Fat Daddy’s Grill is closed on Sundays.

Johnny’s Taste of Chicago
» American Food
100 South Park Lane #9 (Google Maps)

Call: 580-458-8509
My husband grew up in Chicagoland, so we were really excited find Vienna Beef. For a tasty lunch or dinner, try the spicy Italian panini, Italian beef and sausage, or “Chicago Style” polish. Johnny’s Taste of Chicago is in a great location across from Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Limited seating is available inside. This new restaurant was so good that it looks like we won’t be ordering from Portillo’s anymore. Say hello to the giant rooster for us when you go!
Johnny’s has re-opened following a family emergency.

La Buena Vista
» Mexican Food
1220 W Broadway St (Google Maps)

Call: 580-447-2088
This small family owned restaurant has really good authentic Mexican flavor, and the Asada Tacos are legit. You really can’t go wrong eating there, so order whatever sounds good. Sneak a peek at the small kitchen and you might even see someone making fresh tortillas. You must try the Dos Equis in a prepared glass. This place is popular with the hispanic community, especially on Sundays, and the super nice owners and staff are perfectly bilingual.
La Buena Vista is closed on Wednesdays.

Roma’s Italian Restaurant

Are you in the mood for Italian? You can count on Roma’s to satisfy your pasta craving. The free garlic rolls are addictive, but there are plenty of entrees to choose from. Popular meals include the Manicotti, the Chicken Pesto Tortellini, the Fettucini Alfredo, and Chicken Parmesan. You can also never go wrong with a classic Spaghetti. The portions are generous, so don’t be embarrassed if you find yourself asking for a take-out box. Roma’s offers a military discount.
Roma’s is closed on Mondays.

Sakura has a great Lunch Bento Box special that is only available Monday to Friday, 11:00am-3:00pm. For just $10 you can choose between things like Steak Teriyaki, Sushi (5pcs), Sashimi (5pcs) and Shrimp Tempura. Each Lunch Bento Box is served with Miso Soup, 4 pcs California Roll, 2 pcs gyoza White Rice, and Salad. In the evenings, prices go up, but it’s worth trying the Hibachi grill for ambiance and entertainment. The Hibachi Filet Mignon is quite delicious. You can also order online for pickup.
Sakura is open every day.

Try the Deep Fried Avocado with a refreshing margarita, or an ice cold draft beer. This affordable Mexican restaurant has a huge menu. If you’re an adventurous type, you can always find something new. The Plaza is a good place for families as well as couples, and the booths offer both comfort and privacy. Highly recommend the Flauta Salad (chicken flautas) served with a side of Ranch dressing. They also have a military discount.
The Plaza is open every day (11-3 on Sundays)

Val’s Restaurant and Pub

When people talk about Val’s they usually mention the friendly management and service, live music multiple days of the week, karaoke every other Saturday, cheeseburger and fries for $4.59, famous wings, cold beer, and outdoor patio. If that summary isn’t enough to convince you to head over to Val’s, then you’re missing out on a genuine Altus establishment. Val’s is a laid back, centrally located place to meet up with friends. We look forward to sitting on the patio once the weather cools down.
Val’s is closed on Sundays.
