There are many good options for holiday and winter weekend getaways within a reasonable drive of Altus, OK.
The hotels and resorts included here are located in the state of Oklahoma, and some of them have special offers for the holiday season and winter months. You can find rustic private cottages, warm and cozy bed and breakfast suites, and luxurious modern city lofts. Some also offer military rates.

21c Museum Hotel, Oklahoma City
A lot of my friends have stayed at this hotel, and I’ve seen their pictures in my Facebook timeline. It seems unique and trendy.
21c Museum Hotel in Oklahoma City is a contemporary art museum, a 135-room boutique hotel with spacious and lofty guest rooms, and the home of Mary Eddy’s Kitchen x Lounge, led by executive chef Jason Campbell.
The hotel is unique because it’s in the former home of a Ford Motor Company assembly plant. With respect to the historical features of the building, the spacious guest rooms at 21c feature high ceilings and large steel windows.
The hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to downtown locations, Malin + Goetz bath amenities, original artwork, and has some pet-friendly rooms. The museum is free and open to the public 365 days/year.
The Winter Wonderland package includes:
• Ice skating at Devon Ice Rink for two
• Hot chocolate for two
• Malin + Goetz Peppermint bath amenities

The 21c Museum Hotel is happy to accept pets up to 50 pounds in certain rooms. A one-time per stay pet cleaning fee of $75 will be charged to the reservation. A pet waiver form must be completed and signed at check-in.
Colcord Hotel, Oklahoma City
At the Colcord Hotel, they offer guests the gold standard of service and comfort. When the Colcord Building was completed in 1910, it was actually the first skyscraper in Oklahoma City. Every luxury of the time was incorporated in the construction, many of which remain today.
The Colcord Hotel offers shuttle service to explore downtown OKC (available between 8 a.m. — 11 p.m.), freshly brewed coffee or tea, delivered to your room each morning, and turndown service that includes a signature FLINT cookie.

The Colcord Hotel accepts up to two dogs per room, up to 50 lbs each, for a fee of $75 per stay.
Echo Canyon Spa Resort, Sulphur
About two and a half hours from Altus is this beautiful boutique hotel offering suites, private cottages, and cabins. Echo Canyon also features a full-service 5,000 square foot spa, wine tasting bar, and a 5 star dining experience at their own Baron of Beef restaurant. There’s Kobe Beef on their menu!!
The resort is surrounded by pristine forest, and is close to Turner Falls, which is considered Oklahoma’s tallest waterfall.
According to their website, they were voted Best Spa Destination in Oklahoma for 2 years in a row.
Long Lake Resort, Poteau
Long Lake Resort is located near Poteau, and you can choose between several luxurious cabins, nestled in a very secluded wooded setting. Options include the Two Bedroom Cabin, Couples-Only Cabin, and the Duplex Cabin. Each cabin has a fire pit, kitchenette, barbecue, and private patio.
The resort also features RV camping, and offers private fishing trips, a banquet room, and private pavilion for your next event. Activities include fishing, horseback riding, biking, and hiking.
These cabins are an great option when it comes to getaways in the countryside, for those focused on outdoor sports and entertainment.
Dogs are welcome to stay with guests at Long Lake Resort, so long as there are no more than two dogs of max weight 40 lb. For larger breeds, only one dog is allowed per cabin. Dogs must be leashed at all times while outdoors, and should not be left unattended inside or outside the cabin. The pet fee is $10 per night, per pet. The maximum pet fee is $50 per week, per pet.
Soooo, this is a Sheraton near Bricktown with all the standard amenities that you would expect. For Starwood Platinum guests, there’s the added convenience of having access to the Sheraton Club Lounge, where you can help yourself any time of the day to breakfast, and evening hors d’oeuvres.
When we only had one dog, we stayed at the Sheraton OKC Downtown Hotel because they don’t charge a pet fee. The hotel is conveniently located near the Dog Park at Myriad Botanical Gardens.
There is a Government / Military Rate available.
They accept only one dog no bigger than 40 lbs, and a pet waiver must be signed at check-in with emergency contact information. Your dog cannot be left unattended, and will only be allowed to stay in standard guest rooms. Room cleaning must be scheduled in advance for a time when the dog is not in the room.
The Artesian, Sulphur
Sulphur’s original Artesian Hotel was established in 1906. It was apparently a popular hotspot for politicians and trendsetters of the era, and celebrities like Roy Rogers and John Wayne. Sadly, it was destroyed by a fire in 1962.
The new 4-story Artesian Hotel, which opened its doors in 2013, has restored one of the region’s most beloved hotels to its former glory, and now offers world-class spa facilities, an on-site casino, and an array of other amenities and activities.
The ART of Romance package includes:

• A bottle of champagne
• 2 Artesian champagne flutes
• One dozen chocolate-covered strawberries
The Skirvin Hilton Hotel, Oklahoma City
The iconic Skirvin Hilton in OKC offers its guests 100 years of tradition, elegance, and luxury. The Skirvin was named after its founder, William Balser “Bill” Skirvin, and opened to the public in 1911, when it was billed as “The newest, finest hotel in the Southwest.”
Over the last hundred years, the hotel has hosted notable figures like Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Hoffa, Roger Staubach, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Bob Hope.
Today the Skirvin Hilton is a grand and contemporary hotel with recently renovated rooms, a piano lounge with live entertainment Tuesday through Saturday, and various other upscale amenities. $2.50 domestics are available during daily Happy Hour from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Red Piano Lounge. Oh, and supposedly the hotel is also haunted, but I didn’t see a ghost when I stayed there.
The Skirvin Hilton Hotel is an excellent option when it comes to luxurious and historical city getaways.
A Government / Military Rate is also available.

The Hilton allows dog guests with a maximum weight of 60 lbs, and there is a $50 non-refundable pet deposit.
